COBRA

COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act) is a federal law that gives employees the right to continue their group health insurance coverage for a limited time after experiencing certain qualifying events, such as voluntary or involuntary job loss, reduction in work hours, divorce, or death of the covered employee. HIPAA

HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) focuses on two key areas: health coverage portability and the privacy and security of health information. HIPAA helps individuals and families maintain coverage when changing or losing jobs by limiting exclusions for pre-existing conditions and allowing special enrollment rights. It also sets national standards for protecting sensitive patient health information, ensuring that medical records and personal health data are kept confidential and secure.
