What is a TRA?

A Transportation Reimbursement Account (TRA) is an employer-sponsored plan which permits their employees to set money aside on a tax-free basis to reimburse themselves for qualified transportation expenses. These benefits include Commuter Reimbursement Accounts (CRAs) and Parking Reimbursement Accounts (PRAs). CRAs participants to order transportation checks or integrate accounts with a transportation service. PRAs are set up where employees draw these funds out as needed.
